Climbing Centre
- Do I have to pre-book a climbing session?
- We do ask that you book before your visit. Having your booking ready makes the check-in process really quick and easy. We do have a limited capacity, so make sure to book on to avoid disappointment.
- If you have a prepaid climbing pass, you do not need to book in advance. We do ask that you sign-in on the RGPro Connect App and use the member bar code provided to sign in at reception. (RGPro for Android) (RGPro for iOS)
- Can I spectate?
- There are viewing areas in the Rockcity Coffee Shop. However, you can only see a few of the climbing areas from the Viewing area. We do not allow spectators into the centre. Everyone who goes through the door into the climbing areas must be paid in as a participant, even if they do not intend to climb.
- Do you offer prepaid climbing passes?
New to Climbing
- I’ve never climbed before. How does it work?
- Climbing as a sport is made up of several disciplines. At Rockcity Climbing GYM, there are sessions for; Bouldering, Top Rope Climbing and Lead Climbing.
- Bouldering sessions require no prior experience. No ropes, no harnesses. 4.5m high walls over crash mats. Go Bouldering.

- Do I need my own climbing equipment?
- There’s no equipment that is mandatory to bring yourself. We do hire out any optional equipment at an extra cost, should you need it.

- We do not hire out chalk or lead ropes.
- Do I need to wear climbing shoes?
- Climbing shoes are not compulsory, but we would strongly recommend you use them. They provide more grip on the wall and will give you much more confidence on smaller holds. We have rentals available or alternatively a shop in the centre if you wanted to purchase a pair, with staff members available to give advice and help you find something suitable. - What clothing do I wear?
- Climbing requires a lot of moving, so something similar to what you would wear to a gym would be ideal, but any clothing that is comfortable to wear or stretches works great.
- I’m not climbing, do I have to pay?
- We do not allow spectators into the centre. Everyone who goes through the door into the climbing areas must be paid in as a participant, even if they do not intend to climb.
Roped Climbing
- How do I become a Competent Roped Climber to climb the tall walls?
- I am a competent roped climber. Can I bring others and belay for them?
- An Adult Roped Climbing Member can supervise up to two participants. This is two participants for the session. You can not swap more than two participants between unsupervised bouldering, and supervised roped climbing.
- If you have not climbed at Rockcity before, you will need to complete an Adult Roped Climbing Membership Form.
- You can book yourself and the supervised participants onto a Roped Climbing session. Competent Climber Bookings.
- How old do I have to be to climb on the roped walls?
- I want to boulder and Climb ropes. Which session do I book?
Kids & Families Climbing
- Can I bring my kids climbing?
- Ages two to thirteen can use our family bouldering rooms under adult supervision. Family Bouldering.
- If you’re a competent rope climber you can bring kids from age 7 to use our roped walls. Competent Climber.
- I’m not climbing, do I have to pay?
- We do not allow spectators into the centre. Everyone who goes through the door into the climbing areas must be paid in as a participant, even if they do not intend to climb.
- Do you offer kids’ parties?
- We do not run any dedicated kids’ parties. However, we do offer several activities that are great for a group to get active and socialise. Try ROCK-IT or Family Bouldering
- Do you offer any kids climbing lessons?
- We offer instructor lead courses for kids aged 7-17. They can choose either NICAS (Roped climbing) or NIBAS (bouldering) which run during the school term on the weekends. For more information and availability, you can follow the links here:
Skatepark
- I have never used a Skatepark before, how does it work?
- Skateparks are a place to hone your skills and tricks. Novices and experienced climbers are welcome. We would recommend spending some time and experience with your gear before attending a skatepark. And We always recommended using as much of the necessary protective gear as possible.
- It’s my first time Skating at Rockcity, what do I need to know?
- All participants require an up-to-date and valid Skatepark membership form. Skatepark Memberships

- Scooter riders have skate sessions separate from the rest of the skatepark users. To avoid disappointment, make sure to book your session in advance. Skatepark Bookings
- Can I spectate the Skatepark?
- The Rockcity Coffee Shop has a viewing area that looks over the whole skatepark, so you won’t miss any of the action from the comfort of the Coffee Shop.
- To enter the skatepark, you must be booked in and have an up-to-date and valid Skatepark membership form. Skatepark Memberships
- What can I ride in the Skatepark?
- Skateboard, BMX, rollerblades, bikes. Pretty much anything that isn’t motorised.
- Scooters ride in the skatepark in a separate session. Please check the booking calendar for session times. Skatepark Bookings
- Can I hire out skating gear and equipment?
- We do not hire out any equipment for the skatepark. You must have your own gear to ride and wear.
- Do you offer prepaid skate passes?
- We currently do not offer any prepaid skate passes.
- Can I hire out the Skatepark?
- We do not hire out the skatepark for private sessions.
- How old do I need to be to use the skatepark?
- The age limit for the skatepark is 13 and over.

Shopping Returns Policy
- Do you ship outside of the UK?
- No, we do not ship to addresses outside of the UK.
- Do you sell climbing holds?
- Do you give out old rope?
- We do not give out our old used ropes. We always make use of our retired ropes elsewhere.
- Do you sell gift vouchers?
- We sell gift vouchers for our shop, climbing and skatepark. Shop vouchers can be found in either category. Please note that shop vouchers must be used in-store.
Coffee Shop
- Do I have to participate in a session to use the Coffee Shop?
- The coffee shop is open for the general public as well as those booked on sessions. We do also offer takeout cups for coffee if you’re on the go.
- Do you serve dairy-free alternatives?
- We always have Minor Figures Barista Oat available.
- Does the Coffee Shop have Wi-Fi?
- We have free Wi-Fi, with no convoluted log-in required.
- Can I use my laptop in the Coffee Shop?
- The Rockcity Coffee Shop is ideal for having a sit-down and getting some work done.
