Its been a rollercoaster of a year since we built the new Rockcity Skatepark.  With the success of our first season and a busy winter it was game on to further extend our offering and complete it.

The main thing lacking from the new skatepark was transition.  We knew already that as part of our masterplan for Rockcity we needed to turn the now redundant Subculture Plaza into a state of the art indoor wooden creation.

Getting the guys from Vision back and pretty much let them do what they wanted this time they didn’t disappoint.

Pushing out all stops, including the cost, they set about the most difficult and complicated wooden bowl in the UK.

Boasting 10 internal corners and 6 external corners to create the curved form that looks effortless as it flows along and down a waterfall.

For those interested the tolerance of the joints is down to about 1mm maximum, and this is on the external corners only.

The new bowl opens ahead of the 1 year anniversary of the new skatepark and of the Rockcity 20 year one too.  Happy Birthday everyone.

The #RockcityBowl took just four weeks to build and is really remarkable.
